These challenges include: the changing landscape of funding policies, the role of the new regulator in England Office for Students and their key priority to focus on “value for money” for students, the drive to make the student experience relevant and appropriate whilst embracing new technology, the need to drive efficiencies to develop financial resilience, the increasing competitiveness of the sector both in the UK and globally, and the ability to embrace non-traditional or new approaches to higher education such as apprenticeships and accelerated degrees.
Whitecap’s involvement in Education
Our sector experience and commercial insights can support universities by helping them “cut through” and transform what they do and how they do it to achieve their organisations objectives.
We work with universities to help review and / or develop their strategies, including shaping a vision and envisioning the strategic future. This is set in the context of the higher education market and competitor activity. Following this, we work closely with key stakeholders to define organisational priorities and objectives, KPIs and the strategic plan.
Often, we are asked to address specific university challenges, such as innovation, designing and developing the student journey, integrating key digital processes and marketing planning, measurement and optimisation.
Given the sector challenges outlined previously, driving the change agenda is a key focus area for Whitecap in this market. We regularly get involved in operating model design incorporating people, processes, technology and culture change. This involved the development of business requirements for technology procurement, development of procurement approach, and facilitation of procurement process itself.
