Following an analysis of Legal Tech and Innovation across the Leeds City Region in September 2020, LegalTech in Leeds was established in January 2022 as a short-term initiative, with the following key aims:
Through the continued support of sponsors and partners, LegalTech in Leeds now delivers an ongoing programme of activity which includes a variety of monthly events, an annual conference and hackathon, monthly advisory board, published ecosystem report and the running of a website and social media channels.
Since its inception, LegalTech in Leeds has hosted a total of 24 events, attracting c2,100 delegates, featuring over 200 speakers. In 2023, LegalTech in Leeds hosted its first hackathon as well as its second annual conference, which attracted over 350 delegates, making it the largest LegalTech event outside of London.
In addition, LegalTech in Leeds has developed a number of national partnerships with organisations such as Lawtech UK, Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) as well as linking with other regional legal clusters across the UK.
Going forward, LegalTech in Leeds aims to scale the initiative and continue to champion Leeds as a centre of excellence for legal services in the UK.
