Payments industry giant VocaLink has been confirmed as the latest sponsor of FinTech North, the one day conference taking place in Leeds on 26th April as part of the city’s Digital Festival.
Organised by Whitecap Consulting, White Label Crowdfunding, and FiNexus, the event, which will take place at aql’s Salem Chapel data centre, has attracted speakers and delegates from all parts of the UK and further afield.
VocaLink is a global payments partner to banks, corporates and governments, with a long-standing track record of designing, building and operating world-class payment systems. Last year it processed over 11 billion transactions with a value of around £6 trillion. It processes over 90% of UK salaries, more than 70% of household bills and almost all state benefits. VocaLink also powers the Faster Payments Service, Bacs and the Direct Debit Scheme, as well as connecting the world’s busiest network of over 70,000 ATMs through the LINK scheme.
Paul Stoddart, Deputy CEO of VocaLink, says:
“We have found that you don’t always have to look far and wide for new ideas – some of the best come from our colleagues at work and the local business community. We are proud of our track record of nurturing a stronger digital and entrepreneurial workforce in the region through partnerships with local educational establishments. As a business with its roots at the heart of Fintech and the Yorkshire Region, we are delighted to be sponsoring FinTech North.”
Julian Wells, Director of Whitecap Consulting, says:
“The payments industry is integral to almost every FinTech innovation and over recent years the rise of mobile payments has changed the way people live their day to day lives. Every business and person in the UK benefits from VocaLink’s technology and they are one of the original architects of what is today known as FinTech. It’s fantastic to have their support at FinTech North and we’re delighted to be working with them.”
VocaLink’s UK Portfolio Director, Sara Parker, will also deliver a key note presentation at the event, where she will talk about the future of payments.
Other organisations to have pledged their support to the FinTech North conference include: aql, Computershare, BJSS, FiNexus, Munroe K, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Manchester Metropolitan University and Nostrum Group. Nesta’s Open Up Challenge has also been confirmed as a strategic partner.
