Over the last year the Whitecap team has undertaken a number of projects relating to open banking, and continues to be actively involved in this area via client work in various sectors. We are therefore delighted to have been invited to chair the inaugural Open Banking Expo conference, which will take place at America Square Conference Centre in London on Thursday 27th November 2018.
Open Banking Expo will bring together a cross section of the UK’s brightest minds to put the second payment services directive (PSD2) under the spotlight and encourage financial services – and other industry sectors – to embrace the new legislation in order to drive product innovation and enhance customer experience.
Confirmed speakers at the Open Banking Expo include Anne Boden, Chief Executive of Starling Bank, Becky Moffatt, Head of Personal Banking at HSBC, Bill Roberts, Head of Open Banking at the Competition & Markets Authority, John Roughly, Director of Strategy at Experian, Lana Tahirly Abdullayeva, Director of Open Banking and PSD2 at Lloyds Banking Group, and Imran Gulamhuseinwala, EY’s Global Head of FinTech, who is also a trustee of the Open Banking Implementation Entity.
Julian Wells, Director of Whitecap Consulting, will chair the event and said:
“Open Banking has been one of the most eagerly awaited developments in the financial services industry in recent years and offers huge potential to drive dramatic changes in an established industry. There is no doubt that the full impact has yet to be seen, which makes this a perfect time for a conference like the Open Banking Expo, where the key issues can be debated by an impressive range of industry experts.”
Adam Cox, Founder & Event Director of Open Banking Expo, says:
“Open Banking Expo will focus on how Open Banking will impact multiple-industries. It has been created to help business leaders truly evaluate the opportunities and risks that Open Banking presents. It provides an unrivalled forum for these influencers to exchange ideas, debate viewpoints, reveal their approaches to the same market challenges, and share experience in an environment of their peers.”
Attendees at the event will include representatives from banks, challenger banks, P2P lenders, cards and payments providers, alternative lenders, retailers, credit management firms, utilities and telecoms providers, professional services firms, industry regulators, credit reference agencies, insurers, as well as API platforms and service providers.
