Neil is a highly experienced senior strategic leader, with a proven track record for delivering exceptional results in digital transformation, strategic change and managing high performing scale customer facing operations.
Neil’s core skill set and experience is a deep understanding of ‘change’ from the perspective of the business area receiving the change and from the functions delivering the change into the business. Having been accountable executive for both strategic change and transformation functions in 2 tier 1 global banks (HSBC and Barclays) and through 10 years of leading scale operations, effectively being the client for scale transformation and technology programmes.
Career highlights include:
- Between 2016 and 2020 Neil led HSBC’s Global Mortgage Transformation portfolio, which included the development of a transformational global digital mortgage originations platform, which is a cloud based solution centred around a micro-service API core, with high levels re-usability (80%) across different customer journeys and countries. This approach has become the blueprint for product systems development in HSBC globally.
- Between 2011-2014, Neil was the Transformation Director for Barclays Mortgages and lead the development and delivery of a digital strategy, including launching a pioneering and industry award winning (Moneyfacts Personal Finance Innovation 2013) app for homes and mortgages – Barclays Homeowner. Together with a wider customer experience transformation programme, cost reduction programmes and embedding best in class control frameworks.
- In 2014 (to 2015), Neil set up his own consulting firm and was engaged by Capita PLC to advice upon and lead the business design and solution for Capita’s Co-op Bank Mortgage Outsourcing transaction and a business strategy/target operating model for Capita’s UK Banking and Mortgage Division.
Prior to these transformation initiatives, Neil has 20+ years experience in retail banking, successfully leading scale distributed operations (UK and Offshore – 1000 FTE +) in complex regulatory environments, including call centre management, complex case processing.
In more recent times, Neil has numerous clients in his portfolio, which he is providing strategic advice on retail financial services transformation.
