Founder of Whitecap Consulting, Richard is a highly experienced senior executive. An effective and articulate board level leader, Richard thinks clearly and commercially about even the most complex of issues.
Richard’s ability to bring forward new strategic initiatives has successfully transformed the businesses he’s worked for. It’s his passion for marketing and pushing boundaries that ultimately deliver real success.
Between 2003 and 2011, Richard played a leading role in helping CPP Group grow from a £130m revenue and £10m profit company to £346m and £48m respectively. His achievements included developing a new strategy and business proposition for the company and group-wide growth strategies across products, channels, sectors and geographies. This encompassed external and internal communication strategies.
Before CPP, Richard spent 3 years working, developing and implementing a new brand and marketing strategy at Best Western Hotels. Prior to that, Richard spent several years in London-based marketing agencies, managing large scale accounts including Shell, BP Oil, Hyundai, Mitsubishi Motors, Delphi, MBNA, Comet & Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Most recently, Richard has been working with Costcutter Supermarkets Group as Marketing Director, on an interim basis.
With a wealth of experience in the leisure and travel sectors, he worked for 5 years as Marketing Manager for Ontario Tourism and was also part of the team responsible for developing tourism strategies, products and media campaigns for the Falkland Islands.
Richard is an Associate with Hotel Solutions Partnership, offering specialist hotel consultancy services to hotel owners, operators, brands, developers, lenders and investors.
In his free time Richard enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, skiing, sailing and off-road biking.
Richard’s specialist sectors are Retail, Financial Services, Tourism, Leisure, Hospitality, Automotive, Fuel & Oil.

For whatever reason, that I don’t quite understand, I have the ability to cut through stuff very quickly and get to the heart of the issue. And actually for me, the more complex, ambiguous and challenging the problem is, the more I enjoy it. I think I work well in those situations and help bring clarity to what the organisation needs to focus on to move forward.
